This may include details on what types of industrial compostable packaging are accepted and how they should be disposed of.
4. Contact the waste management authority: If you are unable to find information online, you can contact the waste management authority directly to ask about their composting program and whether industrial compostable packaging is accepted.
By following these steps, you should be able to find out if your local composting program accepts industrial compostable packaging and how to dispose of it properly.

OK Compostable Standard: decompose over 90% in 180 days and leave no toxic residuals
To achieve this standard, the thickness of the packaging material will vary the result, because normal household compost condition is not strong, therefore only thinner than 60μm can achieve the standard to be called “Certified” Home compostable. For our film thicker than 60μm and thinner than 120μm. On one important note that it is certified as Industrial compostable and doesn’t mean it is not “Home compostable”. In fact, they are home compostable too, it just take longer time as the compost condition (acid, micro decomposer, water, sunlight, pressure etc…) is not enough for the pouch decompost in 180 days 90% but longer.
- If the pouches makes it into waterways It will slowly degrade in seawater and turn into water and carbon dioxide. Composite bags are only slower than single-layer bags.The bag is made of pure biodegradable materials, does not contain plasticizers, and does not produce any harmful substances. It is an organic matter, and if it burns sufficiently, only carbon is left.
PLA is Polylactic acid, or polylactide, made from renewable and sustainable resource. It is extracted from non comsumption grade potato and corn’s sugar.
- PBAT is Polybutyrate Adipate Terephthalate, petro-based binding agent, they are fully bio-degradable as they are made to do so and will decompose without leaving toxic residues. Only water, carbon dioxide and biomass will be remained.
- Cellulose or NK is plant based material, made from plant and known as transparent paper.
- PBAT is Petroleum baded but re-engineered to be certified compostable. And petroleum is actually a natural substance formed when large quantities of dead organisms, are buried underneath sedimentary rock and subjected to both intense heat and pressure.It is environment friendly because it will return to soil without harmful residents as it is completely decompose and breakdown as it is made to do so.
- Aluminium foil is not compostable but it is nature metal and non toxic and will be return to soil as the foil will break down in small piece when the compostable pouch break down
